"studio"

June 26, 2009

how very much i love the word "studio" and all the feelings it conjures up. artist studio, dance studio, yoga studio. even a blank white photography studio somehow makes me feel more open.

this weekend's project is to create a temporary summer studio in the basement where it is nice and cool and i have room to spread out. i usually work in the attic, but i'd darn near roast if i tried to go up there this week. (let alone work under my halogen lights, which kick out massive amounts of heat!)

so here's a little studio inspiration to get me going...

i love all the texture and color and mess and play and piles and posts and fabric and fun...
someday there will be one well-lit, roomy, and more temperate studio for me. someday. sigh.

ps. the attic is technically the largest room in the house. well, until you add height into the equation.

5 notes:

  1. The organized chaos (and the vintage Pepsi crate) in the last photo is pure eye-candy and exactly what I would want in a studio. Perchance to dream.

  2. i'm a huge fan of the more natural colors. wood, cement, stone, steel... the right combination makes me weak in the knees.

  3. Throw some brick into that combination and be still my heart.

  4. I'm digging the rows of open boxes on a slant as a way to display things:

Not sure what is up with the upside-down doll heads though. :S

  5. brad, i love it! but i was always a sucker for things lined up in rows. and cubbies, love cubbies. (card catalogs, mail slots, flat files...)
