often and un-noted.

July 16, 2009

i've done this (nearly) everyday for the last three years. but have yet to post about it. and why? i'm not entirely sure how or what i think about it. but it's time to remedy...

yoga.
yep, lots and lots of yoga.
but i really dislike the yoga preachers. the "it-changed-my-lifers." and i don't want to be one of those people.
but i do like it. i like it a lot.

it used to be a substitute for dance. but now it's actually its own thing.
and no, i'm not into all that "just do what you feel comfortable with, feel free to sit this one out" kind of yoga. luckily detroit yoga is a perfect fit for me, with two great teachers who know the difference between hard and harm. (i have to admit, sometimes that distinction escapes me.)

and the image...
it was so hard to find the right one. it's not about the impossible positions (although i love the impossible positions.) and i'm far too high-strung to say it's about the meditation. it's more about the possibilities that are open to you in that quiet room.

just another reason i love the word "studio".

2 notes:

  1. I'm with you on the abject hatred for the "it-changed-my-lifers"... Glad you found something you love that you can be comfortable with - I think that's the most difficult thing of all.
