a craft fair trinket

from maybe 1st grade

carried on my first backpack

my first set of car keys

and then the keys to my first place

a sweet pink ribbon

was eventually replaced by a sturdier chain

now retired to an inspiration board

i can't quite say why i treasure it so

a flickering memory of

my mom's hand around mine at the fair, perhaps?
