crush crush #1

May 3, 2012

feeling a bit of a thrill from these pieces by meg a. myers
handmade from recycled glass (old window panes!) they are simple, geometric and utterly charming.

stained glass is most striking to me when it's without all the crazy color.
the shape and form and work is so much more apparent.

(now, that's not to say i can't appreciate the windows in an old church, but that's an entirely different level of stained glass. i'm referring to the genre of things i can hold in my hand or hang in a window.)

something about her work makes me feel not quite content to just look at the picture.
i want to hold it in my hands. feel the weight and the angles.
i don't know if i can wait for christmas!

march

March 1, 2012

march.
it's been such a funny warm winter here, i could wear this lovely spring dress already.
with a warm wooly cardigan and a pair of wellies perhaps?
then of course, i'd have to go pin up my washing to airdry in the backyard.

we know that's not going to happen.
i'm going to wear my skinny hipster jeans and rumply plaid shirt
while the laundry sits wrinkling in the dryer.
because i'd rather blog about the laundry than do it.

but if i had a springy yellow dress from greatest friend, everything would be different.
of course.

i could have a whole army of bobbin beasties.

( tiny fawn )

September 26, 2011

absolutely in love with this work by tiny fawn

the layered paper and suggestions of shapes,
the dimensional elements and the shadow lines...
it all reminds me so much of some of the books i grew up with as a kid.

perfect for a little one's room.
sweet but not saccharine.

so charmed.

i have a favorite shop
that i'm saving as a treat for a rainy day.

i visit it quite often, waiting for the most perfect treasure.
like a great bottle of wine, i know when the day comes
it's going to be so, so right.

i'm very excited to share these finds from
duff has a great eye for unusual yet classic pieces
and she's darn near the sweetest thing ever.

i suppose i do have a fondness for filagree and lockets.
just beautiful, aren't they?

( on time )

April 6, 2011

tick tock
says the clock
tick tock

 lately, i've been thinking about time
and losing track of it
in a very big way

it's strange but i forget how old i am
what part of the year we are in
{ is winter coming? or is summer? }
what day it happens to be - i've given up on that one

and yet, time goes by
i wonder... does it matter if i know when i am?
tick tock tick tock

how's your relationship with time?
do you fight it? work with it?
ignore it completely in a blithe sort of way?

{ psst, image from am radio. speaking of am radio, she's the featured seller this week on etsy! it couldn't have happened to a nicer lady. want to meet her? go read her interview here, and see her shop here.
i promise, you won't be disappointed. }

( friday favorites: corduroy )

a very brave beaver who is wearing a float to overcome his fear of water

yep. madly in love with corduroy.
a sweet little etsy shop with a sense of humor
that cuts through the cute
love. it. all.

and this print, too.
it would be pretty fabulous life size, don't you think?
{ find corduroy here }

when you look at it and say,
" i wish i'd thought of that. "

( crush: fog and swell )

January 6, 2011

a picture on flickr, a comment, a curious click
and i found myself looking at the beautiful work of fog and swell.

from the "wild wet coast" of vancouver
she has a unique perspective on nature
and it completely shows through
in her perfectly detailed work.

making a banana slug beautiful? so incredible.

{ fog and swell: etsy + blog + flickr }

( pretty )

January 2, 2011

i have had some pretties stashed away
waiting for a perfect place to hang
{ and a patient husband }

two vintage china plates collaged with original art by pretty little thieves
and a tiny mounted deer by lemmikkiapina

here are a few images from the artists
{ my light is pretty poor on that wall. sigh. }

pretty aren't they?

pretty little thieves: shop. blog. flickr.
visit lemmikkiapina: shop

and they're both the most delightful women.
it makes me cherish these pieces even more
 { they're on my things-to-save-in-a-fire list. }

( looking forward )

November 30, 2010

ah, it's that time of year
when some of you are thinking of decorating
or shopping or gifting or such.

but me?
i'm getting all kinds of excited about...
next year's planner.

{ spoiler: i'm a huge dork }

this one by bubbo is my favorite.
clean, simple and customizable.

and my 2011 wall calendar choice?
bubbo again!
the elegant simplicity really appeals to me.
{ this calendar by the paper thieves was my runner up }

am i the only one
getting excited by the organizational opportunities
of the new year?

tell me i'm not. { please }
