looks i love: classy, classic, and perfectly draped.
it seems so easy in a photograph.
and yet i always find myself ill at ease in my clothes.
pulling, tugging, too wrinkled, too wrong.

i need a style mama...
someone to lay out my clothes, straighten out my layered sleeves,
tug out all the wrinkles, and de-birdsnest my hair.

anyone want the job? i can pay in banana bread.

it's been such a funny warm winter here, i could wear this lovely spring dress already.
with a warm wooly cardigan and a pair of wellies perhaps?
then of course, i'd have to go pin up my washing to airdry in the backyard.

we know that's not going to happen.
i'm going to wear my skinny hipster jeans and rumply plaid shirt
while the laundry sits wrinkling in the dryer.
because i'd rather blog about the laundry than do it.

but if i had a springy yellow dress from greatest friend, everything would be different.

never mind the small fact that i still haven't mastered braiding my own hair

i can pretend.

and i do think i'd like to build rows and rows of little wood boxes...

one for each and every scarf in my collection, which i never seem to be able to pare down.

four years ago while thrifting, i found a pair of knee high wellingtons.

but i was feeling cheap and $8 seemed like an awful lot at the moment.

i left without them.

i've been kicking myself for the last four years.

today in the very same place,

i found this amazing pair of moccasin boots. (lined with thick sheepskin!)

i did not make the same mistake twice.

and karma was very, very good to me.

they were only $5.

happy toasty feet for the winter!
