( a bird in hand )

August 11, 2011

a sneak peek at a swallow i've been working on for a custom order.
she still needs legs, but i had so much fun trying to recreate
a swallow's long, forked tail feathers.

i love how the little birds perch & balance on their legs,
but i also find them quite endearing without legs.
they are the perfect size to cradle in your palm...
a bird in hand.

i've been considering offering them without legs.
perhaps with an option to have them strung for hanging.
any thoughts? i'd love to hear your input.

5 notes:

  1. i do love their little twig legs, but your birds are quite dear without as well. a little loop for hanging might be perfect - ooh, i'm imagining one nestled in a holiday tree!

  2. I love your work so much! I am a new blog follower :) I think these would be wonderful strung for hanging!

  3. The legless look suits the swallow well. But in general my vote is for legs and feet. :)

  4. I love the swallow and think it looks adorable as is.

  5. thank you so much for your comments & input. i think i will offer them both ways. they'd be lovely in pairs too... one hung, one perched!
