( chemex )
February 9, 2010
i've always been intrigued by these chemex coffee makers. simplicity is often best, but can coffee really be as simple as tea? and of course, it's a gorgeous pot. wood, leather, glass. and nothing unnecessary.
i've been keeping an eye out, hoping to stumble across one in my vintage forays. so far, no luck. but i did discover you can buy them new! and in different sizes too. or even with a handle (which then eliminates the wood cuff. and unfortunately, the charm.)
still, i think i prefer the original. someday i will have that lucky day...
{image from habit, where someone has the genius to make dirty dishes feel downright homey. sigh.}
I have a friend who has one of these and he loves it. He's a coffee snob, and has it in his office at work...
ReplyDeletei'm so, so curious! i know the second i break down and buy one, i'll find one at the flea market! (patience, not my strong suit.)
ReplyDeletei found one at an estate sale. an original, complete with wood cuff, quilted coffee cozy, and burner (incase you need to keep it hot for awhile)
ReplyDeletei prompty sold it. it broke in transit. bad karma from the point of sale....shoulda, woulda, coulda
