( older chests )

August 9, 2010

every once in a while we run into a find
that makes me breathless.
and giddy.

like this very { very } old footlocker
all the way from england.
hammered iron bolts and straps.
wood peg construction.
the original lock and key.

snapped up for a song
because it belonged to an ex husband.

we finally moved it into its new place in the living room
and then sat there staring at each other in disbelief.
there's nothing like a good find.

{ oh, and a completely gratuitous and somewhat blurry picture of bump who was wandering around sleepy-eyed wondering what i was taking pictures of and why i was shooing her out of the way. }

3 notes:

  1. LOVELY ... isn't it GREAT when you find a treasure!
    It's perfect.

  2. W.O.W. Incredible. I don't know if I am more impressed with the chest, or the fact that your husband was staring at you in appreciative disbelief, and not disbelieving that you had dragged a monster piece into the house. That's the kind of disbelief I get. Congrats! ;)
