i have always been a fan of collections

but never been a good collector.

i love these collections. well curated, beautifully displayed and so intriguing.

it's not something i do well. sometimes i over collect.

i collected rocks once.

i walked up and down our dirt road

and put tons and tons of rocks into a box.

at least until someone found out where all the road gravel was migrating.

now i under collect. not quite devoted to one thing.

there are a few globes. there are a few glass cloches with interesting things under.

the air plant numbers are dwindling, my black thumb strikes again.

and there's a fair pile of lewis carroll books but nowhere to display them.

what do you collect? how do you curate and display?

someday i shall get the hang of this!

thanks. now i'm completely obsessed with something else i can't have.

lovely, lovely braids. so perfect for blondes... where the different shades play most nicely in a plait.

not so good for a stick straight brunette with slightly less hair than a two year old. 

which reminds me, i love this.

last year, when the weather got cold

i collected all my favorite blankets together. { here }

this year, suddenly, the weather's gotten really cold.

so... i'm collecting blankets again.

5. military blanket bag from sundance

{ okay, not quite a blanket. but it makes me feel cozy nonetheless. }

and i'm still really excited by this year's new/old blanket.

one can never have enough blankets.

and all of these things are headed for the shop.

however, making collections

also ends up making messes.

bottles and jars

have captured the imagination for years

i love these collections,

these simply elegant ideas.

all you need is a bottle

and a sunny window to sit by.

an informal candelabra, a simple outdoor vase }

i was surprised at just how many

hands & arms i've collected.

this strange expressive & vulnerable part,

it draws me in.

it must be natural.

the dogs do it all the time.
