five things // unmade & waiting

god, i have forever been a lover of the unmade bed, the waiting nest.
the hills and crumpled valleys of our nightly rest.
the cycle of remaking and reawakening.
oh, the lovely mundane.

(these images are tumblr orphans, awaiting discovery of proper credit.)

five things // free & gone

time is a slippery thing. plants that get watered on monday were watered on thursday.
the coffee went cold in mere minutes. the extra hour of sleep evaporated.
time can not be held tight.

waiting, waiting for a house with space for things like elbows and knees is getting hard.
i took it out on this little dollhouse by cleaning and scrubbing and packing away any little extras.
i had not planned to decorate this house for christmas again. the best laid plans of mice and men...

christmas for two is a tricky thing. two, i confess, is a couple, not yet a family.
any attempt at tradition is shadowed by the loss of old traditions.
the unearthing of the customary ornamentation seems forced.
perhaps i'll try out a few fairy lights. joy can often be found in tiny twinkly lights.
right?

five things // sky high

i had planned so much for this week...
but life and mother nature have a way of conspiring against me.
to what end? the air is heavy with rain, the sky is rolling shades of dark and darker.
and while a big part of me is quite thankful (i didn't actually intend to be cultivating a field of straw for a front yard) i really did need a bit of sunshine this week.
light, you know. it makes photography work.

so there will most likely be no shop update this week.
instead, you will be treated to pictures of moons. because that is what i've been collecting lately.
i read that it's hard-wired into girls to collect things. a throw back to the hunter-gatherer days.
girls gathered then. and girls gather now.
i am gathering moons to keep my family alive.
you have to love biology.

i hope whatever weather you need is coming your way.
and i hope you still remember to look at the moon.
don't let life get in the way of that.
