it's not often you'll see a pug over here in this french bulldog household.
but this one is rather frank in the face and i like it.

( friday favorites: jean jean )

June 24, 2011

i have a favorite shop
that i'm saving as a treat for a rainy day.

i visit it quite often, waiting for the most perfect treasure.
like a great bottle of wine, i know when the day comes
it's going to be so, so right.

i'm very excited to share these finds from
duff has a great eye for unusual yet classic pieces
and she's darn near the sweetest thing ever.

i suppose i do have a fondness for filagree and lockets.
just beautiful, aren't they?

... such a treat to visit

( friday favorites: corduroy )

April 1, 2011

peg leg demon

muddy pig

action bunny

a very brave beaver who is wearing a float to overcome his fear of water

yep. madly in love with corduroy.
a sweet little etsy shop with a sense of humor
that cuts through the cute
love. it. all.

and this print, too.
it would be pretty fabulous life size, don't you think?
{ find corduroy here }

( friday favorites: light up! )

November 19, 2010

the molecular structure of light.
i think i'm in love with this one.

simple. strange. sciencey.

( friday favorites: ballet, always ballet )

October 15, 2010

you know how i feel.
we all have our ghosts, don't we?

{ gathered from here and here }

( friday favorites: dear golden )

September 17, 2010

dear golden vintage
is my favorite place
to go and dream of wardrobes.

sure, i wear some form of grey
nearly every day.
but in my secret heart of hearts
i do wish it was the early 1950's
...
and one didn't even dream of
heading out to the corner grocer
without a hat on her curled head
and gloves on her manicured hands
...
but it's not.
and grey t-shirts go everywhere.

visit dear golden at her shop
and her lovely blog
i'm quite sure you'll enjoy yourself.

{ and have you ever seen anyone look so charming in a hat before? }

( friday favorites: en pointe )

June 18, 2010

i loved
freed and grishko
for the wide toe box.

{ yes kim, this is for you. }

sadly, uncredited.
and somewhat just sadly.

( friday favorites: metrode )

June 4, 2010

{ metrode }

i'm in love.

caitlin has such an eye for timeless, uber-classic pieces.
and there's such a beautiful palette in her shop.
don't even get me started on her heavenly gift-wrapping.
there is a certain style in everything she does.

i barely managed to resist this eskimo hood.

( friday favorites: dum dee dum )

absolutely loving this little tweedle set by evangelione.

{ have i mentioned my ever-so-slight alice obsession? }

( friday favorites: new dominion blues )

May 21, 2010

opening an etsy shop has changed my life in many wonderful ways,
but perhaps my favorite part has been meeting so many genuine & caring people.
tracy, of new dominion blues, popped her head in to say hallo,
and we've been fast friends ever since.

 tracy's first love is pottery, and her work is characterized
by rich glazes and a very organic feel.
i'm very proud to have several of her pieces in my home.
{ including a beautiful mug which i reserve for my afternoon latte...
makes me feel like i'm having coffee with a friend! }

but she also loves vintage.
and i've loved watching her shop evolve
as she's added more and more of her unique finds.
she has a great eye for design and it shows in her
beautiful shop styling.

yesterday i found myself enthralled with these two
utterly charming displays found in tracy's home studio.

the plant growing through the tines of the old rake? perfect.
{ and did you notice the old keys tucked among the tines? }
and calipers, repurposed as a towel holder?
so. damned. smart.

find tracy's pottery and vintage finds in her new dominion blues etsy shop.
and find some great reading & inspiration on her blog.

( friday favorites: office supplies )

April 9, 2010

given my love for paper,
it's only natural that i would begin to fixate
on other office supplies.
like this sublime italian stapler

okay, i admit it.
i think i like it because it looks like a whale.
and it's yellow.
who can resist yellow?

( friday favorites: olivia jeffries )

February 5, 2010

you may also file this under girl crush, because i think olivia jeffries is just plain wonderful.
perfect use of found paper, lots of white, and so much texture.
crushing hard.

{ find all of her lovely work here. }

friday favorites: wiksten-made

January 29, 2010

loving this look.
this is what i want all my mid-mornings to look like.

there's something about wikstenmade.
there's something about jenny gordy too.

i am so happy there are all these wonderful people.

friday favorite: a perfectly wrapped package

a perfectly wrapped package makes even the tiniest trinket feel like a treasure.
i love to give {and receive} them!
don't you?

these beautiful bits are from oh, hello friend.
i wish she'd be my friend.

friday favorites: the accidental

January 15, 2010

oh she claims it's just a broken shop waiting for repair that happens to be thrown on top of an old wedding dress, but somehow i think she likes it just the way it is. i do.

yes, this is more of the fascinating work of ann wood. i told you i was obsessed.
from her flickr stream. you might want to clear your morning schedule.

friday favorites: mason bags

January 8, 2010

these bags are just about as sturdy as they come, and i've been lusting after this beauty from hickoree's hard goods for months. casual, polished, they wear well, and just look at that yellow! {love.}

only problem? since i've transitioned to a ginormous purse {affectionately known as the black hole because some genius designed it with a black lining, and i can never find anything in there. i get by on a system of smaller pouches tucked inside so i can feel for things.} i haven't had much use for an actual satchel. but perhaps, if you all order lots of little things from my shop, i could excuse this extravagant purchase as a necessity for toting packages to the post office?

this large purse thing may be hereditary. my mom's is known as the filing cabinet. it is indeed rather square, sturdy, and could be used for self-defense in a pinch. but even as an adult, i know whatever i need will be safely stowed away in there. almonds, anyone?

friday favorites: k studio

December 4, 2009

just a wee bit of home state love this morning! i came across k studio (from the glorious grand rapids, michigan) a few years ago and loved the simplicity of her work. i found her again on etsy this year, and i think i just love it more!

"conjoined" is creepy, sweet and of course, it's the perfect pillow for me! and there's more than just pillows, but i'm sleepy this morning and soft & squishy is calling my name.

{find shelly klein's work here on etsy, or at k studio.}

friday favorites: people

November 20, 2009

people do the most amazing things and it makes me kind of sad. but it makes me hopeful at the same time.

raychel sonveeco, for example. right now her flickr stream is on day 90 of the most intriguing series of self-portraits. and i can't stop looking at it.

there, now we're all hooked. i'm pretty sure i'll be visiting raychel quite often. such an intimate sharing. it fascinates me.
